Chipotle has been sued for failure to be Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant, as a customer who uses a wheelchair was unable to see the food preparation, denying him the “Chipotle Experience”. The case against the company was upheld in the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear Chipotle’s appeal, leaving the 9th’s Circuit ruling intact. Chipotle has, “an official disability policy of bringing ingredients to the tables of diners with disabilities and doing tableside preparation.”
Chipotle is retrofitting restaurants affected by the ruling, and incorporating the new design into new restaurants.
David Chang is a totally chilled dude. I tried really hard to get a reservation at his restaurant when I was in New York a few summers ago. He put out this cookbook that I really want to grab. He is easily the most 2.0 restaurateur/chef that I am aware of (or a close second to that Korean BBQ Taco Truck twitterer in LA, but they’re probs friends anyway.)
“The breathless hype is true. His food is as good and as exciting as everyone says it is. David Chang has opened up a new direction in dining and cooking. With his troika of Momofukus, he changed the whole game. Scary-smart, funny, and ambitious, the wildly creative Chang is the guy all chefs have got to measure themselves by these days.”
I just watched this episode of No Reservations after Jeffers brought it to my attention this weekend. Bourdain is easily my favourite culinary dude in the game. He doesn’t disappoint in his trip to Baltimore where Snoop serves him up a full plate of real talk. Journalists take note: this is how you conduct a simple yet compelling interview.
