This is the fucking best. Jay McCarrol of (my personal favourite) internet-based comedy Nirvana The Band The Show ended up on the smoking gun this week. It turns out he shares his name (albeit with a slightly different spelling) with Project Runway contestant Jay Mccarroll.
Long story short, above is the photo of a dress designed by the funny Torontonian under the guise of being the other Jay McCaroll for website The Daily Beast. It was to be something that Michelle Obama could wear, and was to reflect the current economical climate of the united states. Below are Jay’s words in the artist statement that accompanied the photo “design”:
“From concept to cut this dress is symbolic of the new found responsibilities we as Americans have attained in light of our country’s economic crisis. The idea is simple, we as Americans need to live within our means, get back to basics, and rebuild a solid foundation to live upon. God bless America bitches.”
The Daily Beast called the dress a “cocktail-length frock with a surprising amount of sex appeal for a sack-based garment.”
I highly recommend reading the full article, and checking out their episodes and extras; including my favourite: “The Edge” outtake from Episode 1.
Bryan and Kerry found this before I did, but only because they are superfans and I wasn’t close to the internet when it happened. I’ll never make that mistake again.
